第三屆國際鋼琴比賽5月舉行

This brings back lots of fond memories ... When Sa Chen (陳薩) won the first competition in 1995. I remember it was in September that year, and the organization was still crackling here and there - the practice arrangements for the competitors weren't too great: we had to clamour for practice time and space at the Central Conservatory, and there were practically street vagabonds in the audiences during the preliminary rounds, and we only had a few minutes to try the pianos on stage. If I remember correctly, Andrew Ma (Ma Cong), now also residing in Hong Kong, was also in the first competition. 12 years, how it went by like a flash!
After a while, I guess one grows too old for competitions. In any case, Sa Chen will be coming to Hong Kong for two concerti this year, should be great.
