always stick with new car, because you are new to driving.
reason is safety, and you won't feel uncomfortable with the "GEAR" itself,
if the car is new, you cannot blame the functionalities of the new car. (except lemon car)
Used car is not recommended anyway, it will save you some cash now,
but in the long run, too many unknowns.
I recommend getting a introductory Civic (honda), or Corolla (toyota)
both are reliable and easy to maintain.
Once you are good with handling the cars, you can get the mini cooper, and BMW whatever cars you like to drive (or can afford), and feel very comfortable with it.
Never get 2nd hand car from driving schools, they are a mess, a lot of problems.
