Let x be interest rate per annum(x%/2) = interest rate per half-year
(1*2) = 2 half-year = 1 year
$42000*[1+(x%/2)]^(1*2) = $46305
[1+(x%/2)]^2 = (46305/42000)
[1+(x%/2)] = 1.1025^(1/2)
x%/2 = 1.05-1
x% = 0.05*2
x% = 0.1
x = 0.1*100
x = 10
So The interest rate p.a. is 10%
