首先，兩個都是對，相信你都知，只是想知分別。

NEED 這字有兩個用法， 可作為 AUX VERB 及 MAIN VERB，用法有分別，但意思差不多。 do not need (不需要）裏的 need 是 MAIN VERB，而個 DO 便是 AUX VERB。need not do （不需做）的 need 是 AUX VERB，後面跟住的 do 便是 MAIN VERB.

do not need 後面如用 VERB 要加 TO，如用 NOUN 則不用。e.g.

need 作為 AUX VERB ，如後面有 NOT，則不可用 PRESENT PARTICIPLE （上面個 GOING 是 PRESENT PART。 不是 GERUND），還要用 BARE INFINITIVE 如 NEED NOT GO，這是英文中著名 BARE INFINITIVE 的用法之一。所以，應改成

I need not go to school today.
