management trainee [MT] - (i) chance; (ii) information

我由十六歲便開始 FT 讀書& PT 工作, e.g. cashier(HK), temporary clerk(HK), customer services(AU), account trainee(AU)。

Thanks for your kind attention.

Because very few Australian companies are growing and running well in the last two decades.
Check SCMP. Your qualifications are good enough to apply a MT post from all first tier companies, include those US investment banks in Central. Just your English should be above HK average, or you will go to second tier companies such as HK listed firms.

A safe bet. If your profile is appealing, those first tier companies would not mind calling you at AU for a phone interview, and hold the seat until you come back.

(1) I am am ex-MT of a listed US bank in US stock exchange. Your chance to be a MT is rare. First, they screen people with their grade, but your accounting degree only obtain a 3rd hon. A 2nd upper is required. Perhaps you enrolled in other outstanding ECAs in university, which can make yourself in par with other applicants.

Actually, whether you have a master make no difference in applying for MT, unless you graduate from a renowned university in US or UK.

(2) Frankly speaking, you don't have a career goal. In final round interview of MT, most of applicant would be passionate about the industry well before their application, i.e. they know a lot about commercial banking and dreamed to be a leader in that from year 1. They know a lot in that. Also, you PT record shows you aren't passionate in any industry.

If you simply love a MT program because of the prestige and pay, it is rather hard to enter into those post. Even if you do, you will end up badly, like me 1 year ago. I don't aimed at commercial or consumer banking, but I accepted the offer...

I end up going to a much-lower pay post but pave me way to get into the desired industry. I feel much happier.

(3) You need to find what functionality you hope to work in. Then, know what those employers require. Finally, equip yourself with those skills. But be QUICK, many industry only hire young people...

Overall, your profile is BELOW average with those top-tier applicants. However, when you work HARD, there will be ALAWYS be CHANCE.
