Hello :
Very interesting question …
I try to answer with my bad english.
How did the Impressionism changed after photography appeared???
First, photography appeared around 1840 **and impressionism origins are the french art painting school , manifested by 8 public exhibitions in Paris between 1874 to 1886. we can say Impressionism gave a new way for art moderne beyond academic art, in the first time, impressionism wasn’t influenced by photography***.
~ ** first official image made by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826. and Daguerre make to sale first camera named « daguerréotype » in France about 1840.
~ *** photography took the place of painting (realism) and pushed the painters in a new field.
Impressionism = realism in this period, they choose subject in daily life like a cameraman, they developped special ‘light’ with camera, but also searched « Stopped » movement, change of time and color.
However, each impressionnist has his own idea of color and their favorite research to print their « surrealist » feeling ~ it’s the most different than photograph.
Don’t forget that Monet had problem of his eyes ~ he had a strong shortsighted. It’ s normal that he painted with his « impression ».
