應唔應該以一科冷門的語言作為major?

呢個係我一直煩惱緊ge問題.....面臨緊大學讀咩系ge決擇...自己本身又學開法文,,,所以想大學主修法文,,但係港澳好似實用唔大,,,,出路唔多,,,做translator又唔係我ge理想職業...但係我又好中意學法文....唉...唔知點算好..

本人的 case 和你一樣. 在大學中主修歐洲研究 (法文).如果以前景來說,. 冇錯... 讀法文的確相比其他商科較難搵工, 而在香港, 又好像沒有什麼用處. 這是真實的. 如果你學法文只是為興趣的, 其實真的不用主修法文. 副修已經真的很足夠了.
另外做法文 translator, 你是需要合乎幾項資格的. 最起碼是需要於 DALF 及 DELF 合格. 這方面我就唔清楚, 我一直也不想做 TRANSLATOR或教學等等
如果你真的選擇法文, 其實也不是真的沒有出路. 你懂法文, 其實和其他懂日文的人一樣. 既然有公司做日本生意, 當然也有公司專做歐洲生意的. 如果你可以掌握好法文, 最少日常溝通沒問題的話, 搵一份 TRADING 來做絕對不是一個問題. 而且香港其實有好多歐洲公司, 係香港的法國公司有近 500 家, 也不是沒有出路的. 歐洲公司一般的薪金也會比香港公司吸引的

french is not 冷門
it is spoken in many countries, canada and switzerland for example
even in hong kong, french is not so 冷門 as you think
possible jobs for who know foreign language:
tourist guide
translation and/or interpreting (the knowledge of 2 languages doesn't mean being able to translate)
teacher (have you considered it? it is a job that gives lot of satisfaction)
working in foreign companies
i suggest to choose something else to major
foreign languages are today just a plus in our curriculum, not our main selling point, expect if the job nature is linguistic
