To determine the enthalpy change of solution of ammonium chloride, the temperature change is measured and a graph was plotted and extrapolate to found the highest temperature at the point where NH4Cl was just added to water.
To determine the enthalpy change of hydration of magnesium sulphate, Hess's Law is used. Enthalpy change of solution of anhydrous MgSO4 and hydrated MgSO4 was measured.
Why this time a graph is not required to find the highest tempeture/lowest temperature?
