(a)
The money spend on food
=1500*(1-25%)
=1500*0.75
=1125
The money spend on clothing
=2500*(1-15%)
=2500*0.85
=2125
she spend on food and clothing together this month
=1125+2125
=3250
(b)
the percentage changein her total expenditure
=(3250-4000)/4000*100%
=-750/4000*100%
=-18.75%

Mr Wong saves 15% of his monthly income.
This means he spends 85% of his monthly income
he spends $6800 a month
So, the monthly income
=6800/85%
=8000
his annual income in 12 month
=8000*12
=96000

1.
a)
1500 x (1 - 0.25) + 2500 x (1 - 0.15)
= 3250

she spend $3250 on food and clothing together this month

b)
[(3250 - 4000) / 4000] x 100%
= -18.75% (decreased)

the percentage change in her total expenditure is decreased by 18.75%

2.
[6800 / (1 - 15%)] x 12
= 96000

his annual income in 12 month is $96000
