Q1: For your interest, it's nothing about age. You can enjoy the learning process as well as the result. I have played violin for years and I am still a student right now. Yet, I have to remind you that violin learning is not an easy thing, especially for beginer. You have to be patient to explore and practice. In addition, I suggest you listen more CD/VCD/DVD to make yourself expose to music upon/ before you pick up this learning.
Q2: Of course, piano company, private tutor or some institutes you can choose. It's better you try some lessons with your teacher and talk with him/her to see whether you really want to follow the one you find. It's important to have a teacher you respect and well relate to (I assume you have found the one qualified.), Also, I suggest you should take a chance to listen to your teacher's playing.

Be careful!! In our age, learning to play violin is an enjoyable event. Forget the grading, such as一級、二級、八級等等, then you can really enjoy music, but not the examination system. Of course, you can take the examination whenever you like, treat it as a chance to play before a professional.
