Interesting Question Dude,

The only way your ISP can block these things is if you are subscribed to some sort of filtering service. Otherwise, they are in violation of what an ISP is. They are legally not allowed to block these kinds of things without users requesting it.

So, if they are, you need to file suit with the FCC (in the USA). If they are as a part of a filtering service, unsubscribe!

Or you can just change ISP's

A) Both LimeWire and Kazaa are full of Adware, SpyWare and potential key loggers, Download at your own risk.

B) I don't think it's your ISP, if you have Norton/AVG/Mcafee etc... or a personal firewall try disabling them then try... again at your own risk.

C) If it is your ISP go to Internet properites and security and see which sites are blocked.

If your ISP blocks it then you have to use a proxy or use a remote PC to transfer files etc.

There is many other types of p2p networking software out there you may just have to use a different software to get there desired results.

If they are a school or a workplace, be warned that any type of proxy use to circumvent ISP level blocks are a violation of policy and more then likely you will get into trouble for trying to circumvent it.

To be honest im not surprised Limewire is a P2P (peer to Peer) sharing program and is barely legal

i know you will dissagree but this is great really cause them programs are turning into seriously bad virus nest lately but to answer you question there is software you got with your broadband
go into that and move limewire to the alloweds list
BUT I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT!!!

You are bound by the terms of your contract with your ISP. If they block specific ports to block illegal activity, there is nothing you can do, except change ISP.

I would love to see the court room trial of your suit to force an ISP to allow you to break copyright law.

Are you sure it is your ISP? Try checking the firewall in your computer, router and/or Internet modem, open some ports if needed. I doubt your ISP is blocking certain services.

Yes! Go into the program what blocks it and move it to the 'allowed' section.
