拼讀法(phonics)有什麼優點/缺點?

Phonics讓你在看到一個字時可以猜其可能的唸法，但你不能確定那是否正確唸法。如以-ough結尾的一組字，phonics的幫助不大：
cough /kɔf/
dough, though /dəʊ, ð-/
rough, tough /rʌf, t-/
plough /plaʊ/
through /θrʊ/
但若是如-ame結尾的：
came, dame, fame, lame, name, same, tame 的尾音都是一樣的。
-one的又有分別：
cone, lone, tone / done, none / gone

上面一位所說的water不會唸成「哇」，因為英文中以wa-為首，之後沒有接響音或後e音的都是唸「窩」：如war, wall, want, was, wash.

我也同意 Phonics 可教曉我們一般英文字的可能讀音，譬如你見到 bone 識讀 bone , 那麼大凡 -one 的字也大概音聲相同：lone, zone, cone, prone....
但缺點是：例外讀音的英字也有不少，你無法單靠 Phonics 法則，100% 正確讀出任何英文，你最多只能有 90% 估計讀得正確，這樣，國際音標的學習就顯得重要了！

It's good to use phonics to learn the pronunciation of English. I'm a student who studying primary education in UK. My English pronunciation used to be very bad, ( children in school sometimes didn't understand what i was talking, they asked me" Miss, are you talking Chinese?" -_-"" After I learnt phonics, they understood what I was talking and we had no problems on convensation.
Sometimes, some special words can't pronunce right using phonics. E.g. Water..if we use phonics to sound the word out, it sounds like 「哇 ter」.
I strongly recommend to use phonics, because children in UK learn phonics when they are in reception classes, they use phonics to sound out the words when they are reading.
