I've been studying for a degree of General Studies which is offered by Indiana Uni in US(HKcampus)for 4 months. Now I consider transferring to an art school in US to study abt graphic design or any similar subjects in next yr.My big concern is that my family cant afford the costs for >3 years.
1.Is it possible to study for only 2-3 years? When shall I apply?
2.RISD(my favored school)requires some credits for liberal arts-wt subjects does it include?
3.how to get sponsor fm hk gov?

1. It may be possible if you take classes above the normal semster credits, let's say the regular semester credit is 20, if you think you can take 1 more class making it into 23-24, you can save time. Also if you can take summer classes to finish the required classes like Eng, Math, foreign classes (and these classes are sure to be offered in the summer) that will shorten your time.

Also, some schools allow you to begin in the spring semester, while the brand name schools only allow you to start in the fall semester only. as RISD is a pretty famous school, you better check in with them and see if you can transfer your credits or if you can start in the middle of the academic year.

Check and see if your AL/CE results can waive those into math, eng etc.... if you know a foreign language and if they require one maybe you can waive it out.

I see a lot of people who use their summers to study are able to grad in 3 years and in certain cases, 2.5 to 2 years. But it will be a lot of pressure so be warned.

2. liberal arts class include those like history (american history) some social science classes (like psy.) or science classes (you can take classes like astronomy) and it's pretty flexible with the list. Others include 1st year math or eng.

3. HK edu dept has some scholarships but they are for very top students going to top uni worldwide, so it's very competitive. And if you wish to apply, you almost have to apply 1 year in advance of your proposed start date. Another recommendation is to take student loans here and apply as much scholarships as you can here. One that is offered to international students is www.studentloan.com it's about the 3rd year they offer this and I took that loan myself. Even the interests are a bit high but at least I dont need to add on to my family's burden and I can take of it now once I started working.
