Collisions

elastic collision: collision in which there is no loss of kinetic energy of the system.

inelastic collision: collision in which there is loss of kinetic energy of the system.

perfectly inelastic collision: process in which the collided objects stick together after the collision.

Note that in all three collision processes, momentum of the system is always conserved.
