please help to solve the following problems:
1. a hanging magnet of weight 0.5N is attracted by anothermsgnry hotizontally so that the string make an angle of 15 degree to the vertical.
a. what is the tension T in the string?
b. What is the force between the magnets?

a. what is the tension T in the string?

Let the tension be T.
The vertical component of tension
= Tcos15°

As the magnet is static (no acceleration), so net force = 0
So vertical component of tension = weight of magnet
Tcos15° = 0.5
T = 0.5176 N

So the tension is 0.5176N.

b. What is the force between the magnets?

Horizontal component of tension
= Tsin15°
=(0.5176)sin15° 【From (a)】
= 0.1340 N

As the magnet is static (no acceleration), so net force = 0
So horizontal component of tension = magnet attraction force

The magnet attraction force = 0.1340N
