Plant A is under sunlight and plant B is in darkness. Their weights are measured. After 24 hrs, their weights are measured again. The decrease in mass of plant B is smaller than that of A. It is known that the decrease in mass is due to transpiration. (蒸騰)
a) It is known that starch is produced by plant A during photosynthesis. Is starch soluble in water?
b) Account for the difference and state TWO factors which could account for the smaller loss of mass for plant B.

starch is insoluble or only slight soluble in water.
under sunlight, the somata open widely for gas exchange as carbon dioxide is the raw material for photosynthesis. because of this, the rate of water loss increase, hence plant A has greater loss of water (weight)
also, water is one of the raw material for photosynthesis.
