其實DUBONNET本身唔係出紅酒,而係餐前酒(aperitif),到後來先有Rouge and Blanc varieties !

Dubonnet is an aperitif re-popularised in late 1970's by an advertising campaign starring Pia Zadora. It is commonly mixed with lemonade, and forms part of many cocktails.

An aperitif is a spirits term taken from the Latin aperio, meaning "to open", which describes the intended effect the spirit has on the appetite—it prepares the palate for a meal.

時至今日Dubonnet成為了很多cocktail裡的主要成份:

Today, Dubonnet is available internationally in both Rouge and Blanc varieties and is a key ingredient in classic drinks such as the Dubonnet Cocktail and the Dubonnet Kiss
而Lady Madonna就是其中一個好例子:
1 1/2 oz Dubonnet Rouge vermouth
1 oz dry vermouth

先前曾有一位出名的酒師 Mr. Dale DeGroff (master mixologist)這樣形容過Dubonnet:

Dubonnet Rouge, aka. Red Dubonned, is red-wine based and flavored with spices and hints of quinine. It is also sweeter and richer than Dubonnet Blanc.
