www.garzanti.it is a very good free online dictionary (actually it is the online version of one of the best italian dictionary), I have always suggested it to my students.

the easiest thing to learn in Italian is its pronounciation (not like in english or french, languages which you don't must read everything you see in a word)
you just read what you see
but
the question is guessing where the stress falls
actually, there is not a series of rules that teach you to read italian words with the right stress without mistakes, but reading practise can help greatly
the stress never falls on the ending of a word, except if it is signed with "stress signs"
