dribble：(in football /soccer & some other sports) to move the ball along with several short kicks, hits or bounces [Oxford Advanced Learner's Dict.]；(足球、籃球等運動的) 運球、帶球 [Longman Dict.of Contemporary Eng.]。可見dribble並非只用於籃球運動；多年前我已在英語評述足球賽事中重複聽到這用詞。Dribble亦即廣東俗語的「腳法」。

footwork 是(舞蹈或運動中的)步法。形容一個人跳舞時的步姿便是footwork；「牙擦拳王」亞里 (Muhammad Ali) 比賽時以步法靈活聞名於世, 形容其步法就是英文的 footwork。不敢說footwork不適用於足球, 但dribble則是地道的足球術語。
