They are easily recognizable, with thick black vertical stripes covering an orange body. The belly and throat are a creamy white.
Male tigers have a ruff around the back of the head, which is especially pronounced in the Sumatran male.
No two tigers have the same stripe pattern - each is unique, like human fingerprints. Tiger stripe patterns commonly differ between the two sides of an individual's body.
The last recorded wild white tiger was documented in 1951. This male cub later became the progenitor of most white tigers in captivity. The stripes of white tigers are brown.

Length head/body: 4.5-9 ft (1.4-2.7m); tail: 24-43 in (60-110cm); height at shoulder: 31-43 in (80-110cm). Weight: up to 790 lb (360kg) in the largest Siberian tigers

Mostly deer and wild pigs weighing 110-440 lb (50-200kg). Occasionally hunt smaller animals such as monkeys, fish, and even birds. Needs about 33-40 lb (15-18kg) per day

Due to Tiger fur and organ incurred illegal hunting. The number of tiger is sharp reduced.
As far as Siberian (Panthera tigris altaica) Tiger fur dense hair could keep out the cold. Nowadays Siberian Tiger is critically endangered. Today may be remnant 150-200 individual.
Sumatra Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) also in the critically endanger list. From 1,000 individual in 1970 to 400 individual today. Domestic Siberian Tiger have 194 individual.

一對新加坡動物園飼養的孟加拉白虎孟加拉白虎是孟加拉虎的一種變種。由於基因突變，導致孟加拉虎原本橙黃色底黑色條紋的毛髮轉變成白底黑紋。第一隻野生孟加拉白虎於1951年在印度被發現並捕獲，被取名為「莫罕」。世界上現有的幾百隻白虎全都是它的子孫。

由於白虎的顏色特殊，有極高的觀賞價值，因此在全世界的動物園和馬戲團里都很受歡迎。著名的拉斯維加斯表演組合齊格飛與羅伊的招牌戲就是白虎表演。

孟加拉白虎經常被誤解成患上白化症，其實不然。真正患上白化症的老虎身上不會有條紋。而孟加拉白虎有正常的黑色或深褐色的條紋。白虎之所以有白底的毛髮是由於基因突變。突變後的基因是隱性的，也就是說只有當一對白虎交配時才能肯定產下白虎後代。而一隻白虎和一隻非白虎交配則只有約四分之一的機會能產下小白虎。

已知只有孟加拉虎擁有上述的隱性基因，但目前許多人工飼養的白虎都是孟加拉虎和東北虎的混種。由於基因庫有限，一對白虎交配產下的後代往往有許多健康問題，如斜視症、較弱的抵抗力等。

第一集野生孟加拉白虎於1951年在印度被當地的一位土王摩訶拉伽（意即「偉大的國王」）馬爾坦德·辛格發現，當時馬爾坦德正在打獵。小白虎被發現時只有9個月大。馬爾坦德把這隻特別的小虎帶回王宮，併為它取名為「莫罕」，意即「令人迷惑者」。自此之後，也有一些在野外目擊白虎的報告，但無一獲得證實。

在歷史中，中國、韓國、尼泊爾及一些東南亞國家的文獻也有記載關於白虎的文字。在中國，白虎更成為了一種神物，唯有當帝王具備德政或是天下太平的時候才會出現。在四象中，白虎和青龍對應，是代表西方的靈獸。

全世界的白老虎約3百隻，數量比熊貓還要稀少，可說是叢林裡的貴族哩。特別的是，白老虎也是知名的秀場明星，拉斯維加斯最經典的魔術表演，就是以白老虎為主角，是賭城最知名的高檔表演之一唷。

白子通常是因為基因缺陷所造成的，白老虎則是兩種隱性基因的結合，造成外觀的改變。
即使父母都是白老虎，亦有可能產下黃色的老虎，要繁殖白老虎十分不容易，也因此更顯示出白老虎的珍貴稀有。展場中的另一隻老虎，父母也都是白老虎，未來牠極有可能孕育出小白老虎喔。

白老虎基本資料：

＜體型＞
成熟雄性白老虎從頭到尾巴底端平均身長2.9公尺，體重大約220公斤，肩膀寬度約90公分；雌性略小，身長約2.5公尺，體重接近140公斤，體型上不是體型最大的老虎。人類圈養的白虎，可以活到16-20歲，野生的白虎則可以存活10-15年。

＜習性＞
白老虎牠們大多在夜間捕食，由於具有靈敏的聽覺、尖銳的牙齒、可伸縮的利爪及有隱蔽效果的條紋，雖然跑得不快，但卻都能很有技巧的捕獲獵物，白老虎不怕水，善於游泳，為了躲避酷熱的天候，喜歡跳入水中保持清涼。
白老虎的食量很大，一天食量約29公斤的肉，相當於15隻雞。因為棲息地減少，老虎被迫獵食不同的動物，從小體型的猴子到一噸重的野牛都有可能成為老虎的食物，算一算，孟加拉虎一年吃下的食物可能相當於50隻大野豬唷。

＜棲息地＞
大多數白老虎源於印度、印尼等東南亞地帶，牠們的棲息地範圍很廣，包括很高、很冷的喜瑪拉雅山針葉林、沼澤蘆葦地、印度半島的枯山上、印度北部蒼翠繁茂的雨林和乾燥的樹林都有可能看到他的芳蹤。
