Applications of Simultaneous Linear Equation in Two Unknowns
How to do?
Leo buys some apple-flavoured candies at $40per kg and some orange-flavoured candies at $60 per kg.He mixes these two candies to get a mixture of 40 kg and sells it for $81 per kg, making a profit of 50%. How many kg of each kind of candy are there in the mixture?

weight of apple-flavoured candies---(A)
weight of orange-flavoured candies---(R)

earn:$81x40kg
=$3240

price he paied:3240/(150%)
=$2160

- A+R=40
- 40A+60R=2160
----------------------------------------------
- A=40-R


40(40-R)+60R=2160
1600-40R+60R=2160
20R=560
R=28

A+28=40
A=12

there're 12kg of apple-flavoured candies and 28kg of the orange one
