The reaction between CuOand H2SO4(l) is an acid-base reaction. Though when concentrated, H2SO4 has considerable oxidizing property, it acts as an acid in this case, as a base (CuO) is involved.
The equation is:
CuO(s) + H2SO4(l) -> CuSO4(aq) + H2O(l)
CuO is a black powder, it would dissolve in H2SO4(l) to give a blue solution of CuSO4.
