As you may know, the time you wish to travel is a rather busy period... And its not easy to get a ticket, not only a discount ticket...
And now I think you can only consider in-direct flights, have you tried Virgin Atlantic?? But this would require you to change to a Virgin Blue flight at Sydney for Brisbane...
Other airlines that you could have a look at are Royal Brunnel/Philippine Airlines or Guarda Indonesia?? They have flights to both Hong Kong and Brisbane... So I think its worth asking if they provide connection and if they have any cheaper tickets...
