Nexus v.s. Magellan v.s. Tanjung Aru

This is my two cents worth as a regular visitor to KK.

1. Nexus is too far as you said. The rooms are very big, nice and beautiful. The beach is also very attractive - good sand and clear water. However, the resort is just too big to travel around by walking. You also need to ring for buggy ride service and this is a little inconvenient especially if you have young kids of if you are in a rush. Also, the room rate is slightly on the high side and the resort is a little far away from the airport. (I think you need to build in at least 1 hour to the airport during peak hour).

2. The Magellan is the most centrally located. Price a bit on the high side but the facilities in the hotel are excellent. Beach is so-so as compared to Nexus in Karambunai. This is an excellent hotel to stay. Food outlets are good too.

3. Tanjung Aru is still my favourate - good value for money. The facilities are excellent. Breakfast is quite standard though as compared to The Magellan. The breakfast at The Magellan is much better. The setting in the resort is very beautiful - lots of fish ponds, greenaries and sitting/resting areas. Good and safe place for kids. No beach though so you must be prepared to spend time at the swimming pools only.

Nexus is too far away from the city. It takes more than HK$100 to go from Nexus to the city. But if you are looking for relaxation, Nexus may not be a bad choice coz the city center have nothing to shop and buy anyway. And the night life is not as exciting as Thai.

Magellan is pretty good, and now, most of the local tour departed from Magellan pier. It will be very convinient if you are staying Magellan.

I chose Tanjun Aru couple months ago coz the rate is a bit cheaper than Magellan. Everything is good except the room is a bit smaller than my imageination as a resort. The breakfast is ok .... many choices but the taste.. so so la...

My experience is to stay Magellen rather than Tanjun Aru if you want to stay close to city center. Coz we found so troublesome to go back to Tanjun Aru to take shower and back to the pier at magellen for another activities.
