小企鵝Mumble，本來生活於快樂的皇帝企鵝族群，但有一天，牠發現自己原來不會唱歌，這對於一向以歌聲來吸引伴侶的企鵝來說，實在是很難相信的事，而更令Mumble難堪的是，他愛上了鵝靚歌甜的企鵝歌莉亞，令他更感自卑。企鵝一族對Mumble 經常踢躂起舞及不合群的個性極度不滿，並合力排擠牠。而當不測事件降臨，海上突然沒有魚類供給牠們食用，企鵝長老便將饑荒噩運歸咎於Mumble 的奇怪行為。

可愛的企鵝仔萬寶，因不會唱歌，而被其他企鵝仔取笑。但萬寶卻身懷一種絕技—就是他曉得跳一種充滿hip hop味道的踢躂舞步。媽咪與爹地都知道，兒子不會唱歌，將永遠不能吸引伴侶，與他青梅竹馬一起長大的歌莉雅，正是鵝靚聲甜的小歌后。萬寶的「異能」令他與她產生隔膜，更令其他企鵝不滿，長老諾叔最後驅逐他出鵝群！萬寶獨自離開了傷心地，途中卻遇上了幾隻企鵝界中的「粥粉麵飯」，和一隻企鵝「大情聖」，他們對萬寶的舞技刮目相看，決定跟他一齊踢躂上路，深入南極。萬寶的一對快樂腳，會為他帶來好運還是噩運？最後他終於明白到，天生「鵝」才必有用！
