When we go to cafes to buy coffee they are divided into Single/Double. What actually do they mean?

so does it mean that a single espresso even fills the cup lesser than a double espresso ? if a double is for more than 1 sip? Do i get it right or wrong?

When we go to cafes to buy coffee they are divided into Single/Double. What actually do they mean?

Mainly, this is applied to Coffee Expresso, a kind of very strongItaliano coffee but in a very small cup just good for one sip. Therefore, a lot of people would like to take a double so that it can last for 2-3 sips.

single - 1 shot (1 serving of coffee)
double - 2 shots (2 servings of coffee)

mostly refers to espresso.
