London : stay 2-3 days
--> Cambridge 1 day
--> York 1-2 day
(go by Leeds/ Manchester then Lake district instead - if u like hiking/ landscapes : allow 2-3 days)
--> Edin 1-2 days
(+ Stirling castle/ Glasgow if u have time... )

otherwise go south and see canterbury cathedral (1 day)
then go Brighton --> Winchester --> Stonehenge --> Bath/Bristol --> Cardiff (3-4 days) then fly to edin

+/- other books for details in each place (eg lonely planet -Scotland/ Edin or personally like Fodor's)
