A bullet is shot verticlly upwards into the air at a speed of 500ms^-1. Find the acceleration of the bullet one second after leaving the gun.

Since the bullet is fired vertically upward and during its motion there's no other objects attached to it. So to speak, only its weight will make it accelerate.

Therefore its acceleration after one second after leaving the gun is 9.8 m s^-2 downward which is the free fall acceleration due to the earth's gravity.

Moreover it takes 500 / 9.8 = about 51 s to come to a momentary rest in the air after leaving the gun.

No need to calculate because the acceleration is always the gravity.

Therefore, no matter when the it is, the acceleration is still 10ms-2 (downwards)
