I think Lucy Liu is adorable. Is she Japanese, though? The girl who played Sayuri in Memoirs of a Geisha was pretty cute too. I heard they used Chinese actors in that movie, though and some people (Japanese) were pissed. Russell Simmons' ex-wife, the lovely Kimora Lee is half Japanese, I think.

This is difficult, because the talent agencies and Japanese culture seem to favor picking what they think is the "perfect Japanese girl" or "perfect girl next door" type.
Thin, not too tall, young-looking almost Lolita-style, pale white skin, not many womanly curves except for a slender waist, straight black or (these days) brown-dyed hair.

I see much more beautiful Japanese women all over the place in Osaka or Tokyo. But they don't fit the desired image of the talent agencies, which seem to be controlled by nationalist old men striving for racial purity. (well, kind of joking on that point)

So many of the "idols" and pop stars look alike to me, and I've lived in Japan for 10 years.

But, I like Yuka, because at least her body doesn't look like a 12-year-old girl's and she seems kind of smart on TV.
