Fujifilm's Instax 100 camera Instant Pictures
171.5 x 91.5 x 119.5mm so it's bulkier than a compact camera, but at 919g it's still light enough to carry around easily. The film cartridge is straightforward to load. You simply open the camera, clip it in the back and when you turn on the camera the film cover is ejected automatically and you're ready to point and shoot.
We liked the layout on the back of the camera which has a minimum of controls. An LCD counter tells you how many pictures you've got left and there's a focusing button so you can select distances of between 0.9-3 metres an over 3 metres. In lowlight the flash fires automatically, but there's also a button so you can use fill-in flash if required.

Whereas the Instax itself is well laid out we felt that the instructions which come with it make the camera seem more complicated than it is. The instructions are on a large multi-lingual sheet which may reduce printing costs for foreign exports but aren't ideal for the customer. Diagrams are separated from the text which is small and has been crammed in. We felt an easy-to-read quick reference card with simple annotated diagrams would be more user friendly. The pictures produced by the Instax at 99 x 62mm are slightly smaller than the standard 6 x 4 inches you normally get with shop prints. However, they're wide format so you can get in a lot of smiling faces. And this is where the camera really scores.
