How do I replace the valve positioning sensor on my BMW 330i?

The local mechanic said that it could either be the intake or the exhaust valve positioning sensor. And it cost twice as much to replace the exhause valve positioning sensor. Has anyone had this done on their BMW?

go to a BMW forum on the web and ask those BMW owners. You will get a better chance of getting an answer than here.

I have nrver heard of a valve position sensor !! Your mechanic is going to cost you $$.There are cam position and crankshaft position sensors. You are about to get ripped off it sounds like. What is the problem or symptoms that brought you to the "mechanik" ?? Go find an honest one or repost and tell us the problem and maybe we can save you from a rip off.

your car has intake and exhaust cam sensors. the dealer usually charges 1.5hrs of labor for one. that includes checking faults to determine which sensor is bad and clearing of the faults. the sensors are about $80 - $100 each. so $250.00 and it's done right. not so bad.

one more thing - the exhaust sensor is the easiest of the two.

Check the water, battery, and tires. Or dump the car and run around in a 1964 Rambler!
