That was liquid nitrogen the person poured over the black magnet. When he was pouring we didn't even see his hands so we don't know if he was wearing gloves at the time. After pouring the liquid nitrogen, as long you don't put your hand inside of the liquid then it's OK - don't need gloves when your hands are over the liquid.
The experiment is to do with magnetic field and conductivity.
