Arguments FOR death penality:
To rid of dangerous criminals who will again terrorise the population if released
To save up resources (food, land, energy) as running prisons cost a lot
To reduce tax payers' money used on unworthy criminals which could otherwise be used on other, more constructive things
To set up an example - reduce crime rate as executions act as warning to many would-be criminals
To make prison guards' and fellow cell mates' lives easier - the prisoners receiving death penalties are likely bullies in jail, yet nothing can be done about it
To avoid, even unlikely, their escape - if allowed back into the society it'll be difficult to recapture them, and they'll continue to commit crime (possibilities can be endless here)
However,
Death penalty has always been considered immoral - that is, not humanly-right.
When arguing FOR something in an essay (if you're writing one atm), it's best to a 80-20 argument than a 100-0. That is, include some cons whilst your interests lie on the pros. If you're 100% going FOR the argument, then you won't be convincing enough. Trust me: it works.
