Why don't 8, 8A, 8P use 12M bus?

8, 8A係紅磡車站轉入暢運道的彎位，只能容納11米以下的巴士，所以九巴就用9.9米和10.6米的巴士。
至於8P，其實8P可以用12米，但8P本身的車係由8A抽出來的，8A使用短車，8P也會使用短車

因九巴錯誤估計何文田、紅磡區等乘客對這些路線的需求，故綠小成為了主要的交通工具，不單係車多，而且收費相若及一定有位坐，故部份乘客會去乘小巴，故唔需要有十二米的巴士了。

I am very agree with the previous answer, but there is 1 more thing is:

number 8 is full only at "busy time", other time is just 20% people in the bus, so it is no need for it to use 12m buses.
