I got a new HOLGA 120GN as well.
You should try to shoot when there is sufficient light. And remember to set the distance (for focus) correctly.
ISO 100 film are cheaper, I saw the cheapest one at 'Wing Shing' Fuji colour negative $17/roll (160/10 rolls) , or Kodak colour negative 5 roll pack $16/roll (150/10 rolls)
If you are not shooting on sunny days, ISO400 will definitely help.
I tried China brand 120 film B/W negative called Lucky ISO100 , about $9-13 / roll, purchase on internet in HK. And go to dark room to develop the photo, the effect is quite nice.
I have also tried 120 Fuji ISO 100 and ISO 400 colour negative, but I only develop the film at Photomxx and scan it, then change the canvas size and print as if it is a DC photo, which it will be cheaper to print. The quality is nice.
Try cheaper film first, in my first few rolls, the successful rate is about 4/12 (one roll of 120 film have around 12 piece of 6x6 photo.
But is is fun, the effect of the 120 print is amazing.
Hope you enjoy this too.
