The relationship between my father and I has been quite distant. He comes home late from work every night, and we seldom have dinner together. As time goes by, our communication is getting lesser and lesser. Even if we sit together it seems that we can't find some common topics to talk about. Though we know we love and care about each other very much, we just don't know how to express our feelings, or maybe we were just too shy to do so.

As time goes by, our communication (becomes less and less). Even if we (do get the chance to) sit together, it seems that we couldn't find (any) common topics to talk about. Though we (both) know we love and care about each other very much, we just don't know how to express our feelings, or maybe (it is just) we were too shy to do so.
