世界上存活很多長相奇趣的動物，「鴨嘴獸」就是其中一個例子。牠們生活在澳洲，屬哺乳類（不過是生蛋的）。牠們的樣子既像爬行動物，又像哺乳類動物，亦很像鳥類：眼睛長在頭頂，可以眈天望地；扁扁的嘴巴似十足鴨嘴，只是牠們嘴部布滿觸覺神經，可以彎曲，不像鴨嘴那樣堅硬；而無耳殼的耳朵，就可以幫助牠們適應水中的生活。至於飲食方面，牠們最愛吃蝦、蚯蚓等昆蟲的幼蟲，以及軟體動物，而且食量驚人，每日至少要吃1200條蚯蚓和50多隻小龍蝦。

Platypus is a nocturnal (night) animal that lives in freshwater ponds and streams. It uses its tail for swimming.
