1.)A router is plugged into an internet(or other network) connection on one side, and on the other is connected to several computers, and functions as a switch. Also, routers can have firewalls built in. Routers are the most expensive(usually)

2.)Switches are much like hubs, in that they connect several computers into one network. Unlike Hubs however, a Switch contains circuitry that actively recognizes the destination of each packet and sends it accordingly. They perform better and are more expensive than a Hub, and are included in a router.

3.)Hubs are the most basic way of networking several computers. All they do is take an packet that is sent by one computer on a network, and send it to all the other computers it's connected too. The computer that was actually the destination of the packet recognizes that it needs it, the others just ignore the info.
