I want to choose a direct fund and do a lumpsum for that single fund for short term investment, is it a good time to buy some energy fund now?

If you are investing for short term (less than 3 years), than fund investment may not be good for you.If you are investing for medium to long term, it should be okay. Energy sector still have a lot of potential. You may consider Investec Global Energy Fund. It performs much better than other energy funds like BlackRock Merrill Lynch World Energy or ABN AMRO Energy.
