WHAT IS PHONO?

It is a audio input that degined especially for the turntable, turntable 【 唱盤 】is an old style music player, it plays records 【 唱片、黑膠碟 】with a phonograph cartridge 【 唱頭、唱針 】, that is why it called PHONO。

Phono input is for turntable. All sources of music device do not need a phono input in an amplifier for sound reproduction except for turnable as it only gives very weak signal to the amplifier. We therefore need an amplifier to have a phono input which consists also a pre-amplifier to enhance the signal input by the turnable, or else the sound produced will not be audible at all.
