1. According a survey in Oct ( I forget conducted by which association), they had interviewed a lot of foreign investors. The interviewees explained that the air pollution problem is getting more serious in these years due to the vehcles and industrial polluted air.

2. Hotels are using Rack Rate in normal walk-in guest and using yield price for reservaton guests. If any large events or exhibitions take place in HK, the hotel room rates will reach around $4000 (4 stars) at most.

3. Although HK has a lot of historical attractions, they are not interesting for foreign visitors, since there maybe a lot of similar historical attractions in other countries. Relay on the 2 themed parks are not enought to attract customer.

4. In tourism industry, competitors of HK are Singapore and Macau. Both of them are close to HK, and having comparatively advantages then HK. Singapore government had placed a large amount of capital in rising its international reputation and become a convention and exhibition destination. For Macau, as it is a GAMING city, many visitors may willing to visit there to try gaming since not many countries allow gaming. Also, Macau government also trying to re-build the imange of macau as a Exhibition and Convention destination as it opened the Macau Tower convention and exhibition center. Also, the living standard is relatively lower then HKG.

5. After the individual traveling scheme introduced, the majority of visotors coming to HK are from the Mainland China. Eg is that, most of the hospitality industries, also set the 1st May & 1st Oct as the most profitable period of their company, they want to gain more during that GOLDEN WEEK. Not only travel agents and hotels, but also retailers and restaurants also .

6. Complaints from foreign visitors are growing in recent year. Most of them are related to buying electronics equipment likes digital cameras and portable music players, also the chinese medicines. This made our "Shopping Paradise" image suffered, and loss due to some blacksheeps.
Also, in the past several months, some Chinese tours was ordered to purchase some expensive goods which is "arranged" by the tour escort. This harm for our image, many visitors may feel disappointed due to restricted purchase.

Solution
1. Set up laws in preventing illegal discharging polluted air.
2. Due to the "no intervention" policy, the gov't cant control hotels decisions, but she can gives advises to the industry to prevent over-charged of room rates.
3. Should not place much more capital in development new attraction, but should try to modify or repair some meaningful or valuable attraction. In order to attract more visitors and repeat visit.
4. Find out what is the strengths of the competitors, and find out any opportunities that we can gain advantage to compare with other competitors.
5. Try to promote HK in more foreign countries. (HKTB)
6. Blacklist those merchants which was being complained
