1. His total income of that month
=$(520+5264x25%)
=$1836

2.Let y be the total number of candidates obtained grade C.
y(100%-18%-38%)=77
y(44%)=77
y=175
Therefore, the total no. of candidates obtained grade C is 175.

1>A door -to-door salesman is paid a basic salary of $520 per month plus a commission of 25% of total sales made during the month. If he sells $5264 worth of goods in a particular month, find his total income for that month.

His total income of that month = Basic salary + Commission
= $520 + $5264 x 25% ... ($5264 x 25% = commission of 25% of total sales)

2>Of the candidates from a certain school who sat for the Maths exam at 'A' level, 18%obtained grade A, 38% obtained grade B, the rest obtained grade C. Find the total no. of candidates given that 77 candidates obtained grade C.

The total percentage of candidates obtained grade C = 1 - 18% - 38%
= 44%
The total no. of candidates = 77 ÷ 44%
