張系國簡介

台大電機系畢業，留美專攻電腦科學，獲柏克萊加州大學博士，現任匹茲堡大學教授﹐並創辦了知識系統學院。在專業領域裡張系國早負盛名，他是電機暨電子計算工程學會會士，已出版的學術 論文兩百三十篇，編輯及撰述的專書十四部﹐指導的博士生和碩士生超過兩百人。張系國的文學生命發端於大學時期，作品兼採科幻、寓言和寫實手法，亦極重視時 代的脈動。其燴炙人口的代表作《棋王》，現已翻成英文﹑德文等，並曾搬上銀幕、 改編成音樂舞台劇、電視劇等。另著有《地》、《昨日之怒》、《遊子魂組曲》、 《星雲組曲》、《沙豬傳奇》、《男人的手帕》、《一羽毛》、《玻璃世界》、 《V托邦》等二十八種。
張系國是讀電腦科學的，他是美國柏克來加州大學的博士，他寫的小說多以人類未來、超級電腦及機械人等為主，比較「科學」一點。張系國寫的小說，多是寫未來世界。人們說借古諷今，而張系國則是借未來令人反思現在。他的小說藉著未來世界，探討今日世界科技文明極度之發展，對未來人類生活可能帶來的衝擊與破壞。

他於《金縷衣》的附錄交代過：「科幻小說可以趣味，但科幻並不是逃避，而是在更深的層次反省人類的處境」。張系國在《金縷衣》運用豐富的想像力，創作很多充滿科幻色彩，但內裡道出人生大大小小的道理故事。
