1.)There are two containers of peanut oil, the normal size and the jumbo size.The volime of thr normal size is less than that of the jumbo size by 40% and the difference in volume is 600 mL.
(a.) Find the volume of the normal size.

Let the volume of the jumbo size container be x mL

So
x(40%) = 600
x(0.4) = 600
x = 1500

So the jumbo size container is 1500 mL.

The size of the normal size container
= 1500(100%-40%)
= 1500(60%)
= 1500(0.6)
= 900 mL

=================================
(b.)If the volume of the normal size is increased by 5%,find its new volume.

The new volume
= 900*(100%+5%)
= 900(105%)
= 900(1.05)
= 945 mL

a) Assume normal is x, and jumbo is 1.4x
1.4x – x = 600
x = 1500 ml

b) 1500 (1 + 5%)
= 1575 ml
