一般口語或簡潔講法係 slit one's wrist (e.g. slit my/your/her/his/mary's wrist)

e.g. She tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrist.
e.g. if I'm to kill myself, I'd slit my own wrist.

"cutting" would do; but if you want to make the meaning clear, you can say, 'cutting his/her wrists'; or if you want to emphasize the brutality of the action, you can say, 'slashing his/her wrists'

of course, make sure you use the correct verb form =)
