The difference between funds and provident funds

Anyone can tell me the difference between funds (which is buy from broker or agent) and provident funds (which is 5% employer paid and 5% employee paid)?? Because my agent seems not helpful for me to review my funds statistics after i bought it for several years......

The fund plan on the market is basically the same features as MPF, however, the mainly different is that, MPF, they had alot more restriction in making investment in the area, whereas the fund we bought in the market has less restriction.if you want to know more or you want someone to help you to review your profolio, feel free to email me
