If you honestly think you have accomplished your goal, then do what you wish. G o listen to a professional and see if there is a difference between your playing and his/hers. 流行曲 can be easy to play, but to play well – and to add personal touches tastefully – requires one with good musical sense. In pop music, no one plays according to the score. You have to learn to improvise, add/compose your own accompaniments, harmonies, etc., the possibilities are not as limited as one would think. To play everything on your music book – which I assume are simplified versions – is a piece of cake, but you also know that the enjoyment you get from these simplified versions is skim. The more you know, the better you’d play; the better you play, the more enjoyment you’d get.

And may I suggest trying some classical pieces also? The emotional depth and expressive range far exceeds any canto-pop songs, and the enjoyment you get from those will last you a lifetime.


My opinion: continue lessons on the piano, learn some theory, explore different kinds of music, at least for another year or two, then you’ll see what you’re cut out for and where your real interest lies.

老實說。如果淨係想彈流行曲，就真係唔好咁高要求。想彈得好就要努力練習。
無根基、無練練習曲、無各種練手指的方法，視乎你想彈得到定係彈得好好。只係想彈得到，咁都係不外乎慢練，將最難的部分抽出黎練幾十次，試下唔同fingering 再選定一個適合自己的……
睇譜速度，就係你要睇得好多譜之後就會快點，好多…
