HEAD PPS 16 is not bad, and inexpensive too.

i've played the 17 (thinner version) 3 times around 57/58lbs. It is comfortable and has lot of power, suitable for beginners.

According to some technical specification, PPS 16 is not stiffer than its thinner brother 17. Its thicker size should be more suitable for bigger size rackets. (size > 100 sq.in) Begginers mostly would like to use bigger head size rackets.

ps. string tension is very important, maybe more important than string model. So make sure you know how much tension you should string your racket. Ask the stringer (pro shop) about that if necessary. It 'd depends on your racket (very much) and also the machine the stringer use. and if it is the first time you string your racket, it is just some trial and correction...

Good luck and enjoy the game

In general, this is one of the many syn guts out in the market. But from it's construction and ingredient, which is a single core construction with twisted strip wrap and coating on top to give certain level of hardeness for durability. This will make it a little bit harder than those ordinary syn guts with multi core construction. With this construction will give you a bit of extra bite onto the ball when hard hitting, but on the other hand you have to sacrifice a bit of handfeel when you compare with multi-core syn gut.

I think, this should be a good compromise between, polyester and conventional syn gut. And if your swing is fast and powerful, then may not be a bad choice.

Am I answered your question?
