Tense 問題

ngai_1002 ﹐這個問題很難解答﹐因為單憑這一句要考慮不同的因素。如果有上文和下文作分析便會容易得多。


「Not yet having taken place」可以是﹕
01 從句﹔
02 也可以是一個對話中的回應﹔
03 又或者是一個標題。

以可便理解﹐我在這裏只解釋「01 從句」。

簡單來說﹐「從句subordinating clause」是一句句子的「非核心部分」﹐
所以一句句子可以沒有「從句」﹐只有「主句main clause」。例如﹕

Before watching TV, you should finish your homework.
句中的「before watching TV」便是「從句」﹐
「before」是「連接詞conjuction」﹐「watching」是「現在分詞present participle」﹙這是我們用來構成「進行時」的「ing」動詞﹚
而「you should finish your homework」便是「主句」。

剛才提到一句句子可以沒有「從句」﹐正如﹕
I went to school earlier today.

拫據以上的資料「Not yet having taken place」後面可能會接一句「主句」﹕
Not yet having taken place, the concert postpone until further notification.
句中的「Not yet having taken place」是「從句」﹐
「the concert postpone until further notification.」便是主句。
「having taken」是「現在分詞的完成時」﹐用來表示「之前」的。
如果從句中的「having taken」變成「taking」﹐意思上便會變得含糊。

例如﹕
After having finished homework, he watched TV.
