1) I know the areas of the top,side,and front of a rectangular box. The Top is 112 cm^2,
the side is 84 cm^2, and the front is 48cm^2
What are the edge lengths of the box, and what is its volume?

Assume a= length, b=width c= height in cm1. a x b = 112
2. b x c = 84, i.e. b = 84 / c
3. a x c = 48, i.e. c = 48 / a
Put 2 & 3 into 1
a x 84 / (48/a) = 112
84/48 x a^2 = 112
a^2 = 64
a = 8
b = 112 / 8 = 14
c = 48 / 8 = 6
edge length = 4 x ( a + b + c ) = 112cm
